Yeah, poop!
What a wonderfully weird week it’s been. They say that every cloud has a silver lining, and I suppose that’s true in so many ways, but I think I am getting ahead of myself here. We had a pretty big scare and now some excitement. Claire wasn’t acting like herself last week, and she was cranky every single day. Because of some stomach issues last year and earlier this fall, we wanted to have her checked out. The doctor’s office panicked and sent us to urgent care. I just don’t get it. Those people at urgent care aren’t very urgent, and this was annoying. Eventually we gave Claire a snack bar before they did the x-ray. The x-ray came back with a supposed "excessive lump". Mind you, she was acting normal the entire time, so I wasn’t that afraid. The doctor was though. It wasn’t until later that we realized that stomach cancer was even going through people’s minds.
The next morning Claire went to school and the doctor immediately wanted her to get a CT Scan. Like a bat flown from Hades itself, I dropped everything and hightailed it 40 miles to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. We had a STAT scan with sedation, which was really funny in itself because Claire acted like she was on dope. The scan came back completely negative, which meant that nothing showed up as wrong with her. This is after almost 24 hours of craziness. We drove Claire back 25 miles to her own doctor’s office, and the radiologist report finally came back. Claire’s doctor came in and said "um, did she eat before the x-ra?". Of course she did! They made us wait for 4 hours. Of course the 2 year old ate! Our doctor rolled her eyes, wiped her proverbial brow, and slapped her butt with a clean bill of health. Wow. I know I for one drank heavily that weekend.
Then here comes Sunday morning. Claire comes into our room, goes into the bathroom and becomes very quiet. Now, our daughter doesn’t like to poop on the potty at all. It sure doesn’t scare the crap out of her. That’s for sure. Anyway, so we don’t know what’s she’s doing so we make our way in there. Claire is sitting on the potty all by herself, and she is pooping! Now you young ‘uns an single people may not understand our obsession with toddler poop, but Claire has always HATED to poop on the potty. It scared her! She would cry. Now, this Sunday, nada. Pooping like a champ. She demanded that we permit her to wear panties all day long. She went to bed in panties, and she woke up today completely dry.
Today she wore panties all day, made it home, and she wanted to pee. After she was done, she demanded fresh panties, in which she recently went to sleep. We’re really excited and have something that hopefully will be very positive to help us forget that ordeal from Thursday night/Friday afternoon. Yeah, poop!
